I know, I know… I just graduated with a degree in Music Theatre and I’d NEVER been to one of the Musical Theatre Capitals of the World?!? So, yes, I just saw my first ever Broadway show last week and I basically spent 4 years getting a B.F.A in Broadway. I can’t tell you why I’d never visited, it just was never the right time, I guess. This time it was made a priority because I made the decision that the place I need to go next in New York City. I think it’s the right move for starting my career and my life. This added a little bit of pressure to the trip…

and since I’d never visited before, I’d built in my head how big and scary NYC was based on external narratives and that kind of made me anxious about going. What if I hated it and couldn’t get past the street pee smell?? Nonetheless, I loved every bit of my first NYC trip!

What I really learned is that, it’s just a city. As much as it is magical and cool, it is just a place and making it bigger in my head is just an obstacle and isn’t helpful to my growth. Which… YAY… totally purpose for visiting. TEARING DOWN FEARS FOR THE WIN!

It definitely makes me much more excited about making the move. I know it won’t be perfect and magical, but that’s not the expectation. I know I will make it work. I’m young and what else would I do? Why NOT go? It’s all going to work out exactly as it should.
